I do drink ice tea on occasion as with coffee.. but not evey day..Water aerobis 4x a week and walk 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 miles 4-5 times a week... I know were not suppose to compare ourself to others.. But I have to ask now... ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE LIKE ME?. would love to hear form you and if you made it to goal and how long it took... thanks to all my fellow WLS people.... — Kalli R. What type of surgery did you have? What type can make a big difference.
I had Open RNY - at 7 months I was down 93 lbs.
Are you still losing, or have you stalled?
In my opinion, you will continue to lose. My doc says that if you continue
to eat up to 1100 calories and exercise, then you will continue to lose.
Even if you are on a plateau, you will begin lossing again.
Good luck!! :) :)

Hello, I know how frustrating this can be, because I was a very slow
loser. My docter kept telling me that I would continue loosing until I was
at least 18 months. I really didn't believe him but it was so true. At 18
months out I got to my goal weight and that is when I stopped. If I want
to lose more I can, just by cutting way back on calories, but I'm happy
where I''m at. I know it's frustrating but hang in there. It looks like
your doing all the right things.

As long as you are losing consistently, even if it is only a pound a week,
you are fine. I lost 95 in 6 mos, now a whole year later I am down 125
(currently weigh 225). It is conceivable that I will only lose another 20
pounds or so. But I am okay with that.
You should continue to lose. People get all excited about the big losses
at first, but whether you lose 100 in six months or not, most people lose
on average of only 100 in a year. You are not too far behind.
Sorry you are a slow loser. At least you are honest. I am so tired of
people posting they only lost 50 lbs in 2 months. Makes me want to reach
through my computer and smack them. LOL.

I, too, am a slow loser. I had surgery 11/11/03 and am only down 70#. I did
lose 35# before surgery so I am 'technically' down 100# from my highest
weight so far. I do everything correct, 80-100 gr. protein, 100 oz. water a
day, exercise 3-4 days a week and walk each night as well. VERY
frustrating. I am losing inches but I want to see that blasted scale move.
I've been on this plateau for 3 months. I bounce 1-1/2 pounds. My surgeon
keeps telling me my body is resting from losing the 100#.....I'm ready for
it to stop resting and keep a moving!

OH! This is my favorite subject! I am a slow loser also. I started at 389
and I still weight 282-285. I had Open RNY on March 7, 2003. It took me
11 months to lose 100 pounds and I was a "heavy weight."
Supposedly the more you weigh the faster you lose. NOT!! So what is the
explanation for this kind of loser. I know we can not give up by any means
but it sure can upset you when a ton of others have lost so much faster.

I am a slow loser too. I had surgery September, 2002 I lost just 89
pounds. I weighed starting out at 373 pounds. Now I weigh 290. I had
other health issues that preventedom walking and moving. So mostly out out
boredom I ate between (extra protien) or tried to. I also get discouraged
when I see people with younger surgeries than me losing much faster. But
then I think they are able to move around more, working, etc. Good luck

You might want to cut out the fruit, Kali. Fruit is a natural sugar and it
may be keeping you from losing. It never hurts to try. Maybe some raw
veggies would help out instead of the fruit...Good luck, judy

I too have been a very slow loser. I had my surgery July 2001 and have
only lost 120 lbs. I started out at 380 and am down to 260. I have been
very discouraged. Like you I couldn't exercise due to leg and back
problems. I also started grazing out of boredom and stress. I don't know
what to do. I hate to think that I went through all this for nothing. I
can also eat way more then I should be able to. I was told I should only
be able to eat about a cup of food, but I can eat a whole Lean Cusine meal
at one time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking about
asking my doctor for a revison.
