Question:
Bcbs of SC refusing to pay Dr. bill but payed Hospital HELP

The indurance Has payed the hospital and all other bills except for the Surgeon's fee. They said that it was not covered because of it being for obesity. But they approved it ahead of time. How can they approve something pay for almost all of the bills and then not pay one of the bills? This is not fair. They even paid the bills from my complications, if the surgery was not covered in the first place how can they pay the rest of these bills?    — Tabitha D. (posted on February 22, 2004)

If you have an approval letter from the insurance company saying that they'll pay for the surgery, attach it to the Explanation of Benefits and send it back to the insurance company and tell them in a letter your appealing the denial of the surgery because they had already approved it. Then tell them to see the attached letter. This should get the claim approved.
