Question:
If I mix protein powder into my sf HOT chocolate does it mess up the protein?
May be a silly question, but I don't know if hot messes with the formula? — Michelle J. (posted on December 5, 2003)

if you just add it to your hot chocolate without boiling it that should be
fine. you can also call or email the maker of your protien powder and ask
them.

That's how I drank my protien, in sf hot chocolate or sf chocolate milk and
that was it. Worked for me, but im not sure if it did alter anything. I
don't think so though. Good luck!

Unjury.com tells us that it doesn't change the composition of the protein
or lessen it in any way JUST that it may change the consistency or make it
lumpy. gail -104

I've done this with the pro-cel and it changed the consistency of the
powder. (lumps) It isn't supposed to change the effectiveness, but it sure
wasn't fun drinking it. LOL

I, too, think that as long as you don't use boiling liquid that you won't
damage the integrity of the protein. To help with the lumpiness problem,
add the liquid to the powder, not the powder to the liquid.

I just read the answer to this question somewhere. Apparently, heating the
protein doesn't remove it's potency. Someone did suggest adding the protein
to the s/f hot chocolate and then warming it all up at the same time, but
not making it really hot. =)

You guessed correctly, heat will break down the protein. Supposedly, the
Iso Soy proteins are the only ones that can be safely mixed with hot
liquids or cooked and still hold up.
