Question:
Is there anyone who knows how I can raise money to meet my copay?

I am a recently married full time college student and am covered by my husbands insurance. Of course both of us being under 25 we are broke. Is there anyway, short of robbing a bank, to raise the money needed to meet my insurance maximum? I am trying to get a job for the Holidays and hopefully beyond but coming up with 1,500 seems impossible. Has anyone been able to work out a payment plan for something like this with thier doctor?    — Tabitha D. (posted on September 28, 2003)

A woman who has the same surgeon as I do...Dr. Todd of Anchorage, AK set up a web site. www.forthoseinneed.com. You could do something like this. Check it out. Yes, and some Dr.'s do take payment plans...as well as some hospitals. Go to the billing dept of the hospital where your surgeon does his surgeries. Good Luck, God bless.

How about getting a loan from college to help with your living expenses? Or like others said, sell some things. Or you could borrow that small of an amount from friends, relatives, the bank, cash advance off a credit card. I know 1500 seems like a lot but you're very lucky. There are many, many people with NO insurance coverage for this who are left to either not have surgery or finance it fully themselves. When you look at it that way 1500 isn't very much. I'm sure you'll find the way. Good luck!

Have you thought about approaching your family and asking for any Christmas-birthday-..... gifts to be in the form of payment to the Dr.? Just a thought.

What about starting a "Christmas Club" at your bank? That way you make a certain payment every week and in one year, you'll have your money. Just an idea, I think this is what I'd do.

Are your credit cards maxed? Also, do either of you have a 401K? I recently withdrew 1200 from my 401K to pay off a high interest credit card. Now I am paying back the 401K at $45 a week with only 5% interest. It's like I took a loan for myself. :)

Few things... ~Title loan on a car you own (watch out for little tiny charges that the loan company might try to stick in) ~Sell something like jewerly, electronics (pawn shops allow you to buy back up to 60 days later) ~If you attend church, ask the pastor to take up a special collection for you (making sure to donate any extra funds back to the church) ~Garage sale (sell your stuff) ~Type other students papers changing like $2.50 a page ~Tutor another student for 25 bucks an hour ~Ask parents for a loan ALSO...Is this to meet the deductable? Call your insurance company and ask them what they recommend. Also, talk to your doctor. They tend to work things out.
