Question:
Just from carryin' my weight, my calves are massive muscles...
What happens to your calves when you lose weight? Do your calves stay the same size?? — Michelle J. (posted on September 25, 2003)

I've always had big calves since I was a kid. Muscular, but big.
Unfortunately, they have not gotten much smaller since I lost weight. I
still can't wear boots that zip up the side. I know I need liposuction on
them and then I think they would be normal.

I have always had huge calves and thighs. I've lost 112 lbs and they are
much thiner but still strong and muscular. I work out 4 -5 times per week.
I can see the bone in my legs --the fat is disappearing. I have terrible
veins though.

I have always had "popeye" calves but since losing the weight
they are in proportion with everything else and are fortunately still
muscular and have good shape. That was a worry of mine too but has worked
out well.

I have always had muscular calves too (even when I was thin). I am 2 1/2
mos out and have lost close an inch in diameter at the largest part of each
calf. That is at a much slower rate than my other body parts but better
than nothing. And would you believe that on many occasions when I was
thin, I was actually complimented by men for my shapely calves? So I guess
I would much rather have some shape to them than to have stick legs. :)

I have always had very muscular calves too (even when I was thin). I am 2
1/2 mos out and have lost close to an inch in diameter at the largest part
of each calf. That is at a much slower rate than my other body parts but
better than nothing. Growing up, I was self-conscience of my 'big' calves
but would you believe that on many occasions when I was thin, I was
actually complimented by men for my shapely calves? So I guess I would much
rather have some shape to them than to have stick legs. :) (I also can't
wear zip up boots but maybe when I've lost more weight I will be able to.)

My calves were the exact same way. I never really noticed it, but dh did.
One of the first things that he said changed dramatically after surgery was
the shape of my calves. They're still muscular, but not nearly as
"stocky" as they once were. I never thought anything about my
calves pre-op, but dh says that they are totally smaller than they were.
