Question:
Has any one pre-op had sinus problems that went away post-op after weight loss?
In the past 5 or so years and the addition of 70 pounds or so I have had bad sinus problems and was wondering if weight was a factor. Has anyone noticed sinus problems clearing up after weight loss? — Dave H. (posted on September 13, 2003)

I have al;ways had sinus problms, even when I lost a major amount of weight
15 years ago. Now that I am thinking about it, I have had far fewer
episodes post op. Hmmmm . Not a bad sthing since the only thing that
really helps is Motrin which post ops should not take.

Boy that describes me, it was horrible. Twice yearly severe sinus
infections, I would get so sick, and end up on antibiotics. All went away:)
<P> My surgeon says my GERD would contaminate my sinuses and cause my
problem. EVERYONE really likes this. Sinus problems caused severe loud
cough that bugged everyone.

Sinuses definitely better. But I think it's because I don't have a lot of
the foods anymore that used to trigger them.

I have to agree with Bob, the Gerd is a major contributing factor in
snoring, sinus problems and coughing. Mine went away as well.

Something certainly has improved. I had year round chronic thick drainage
down my throat. This has been a pretty bad year for seasonal sinus issues
for most people but it is the first year in many that I have not taken any
allergy meds and I do not have near the drainage as I used to. I'll take
it whether it came along with the weight loss or not.
