Question:
I am eating
the juices out of campbells soup, such as cream of potato with over half skim milk mixed in, no chunks, tomato soup half water and the same with chicken noodle, and with this i am eating either SF jello or pudding. does this seem right ? Iam 6 days post-op. I looked on here and hadn't seen anyone else eating campbells? thanks alot — kelkel319 (posted on September 10, 2003)

I ate cream of chicken and the ones you mentioned during the fluids stage.

Kelly, I was eating Campbell's Healthy Choice soups for the first six
weeks. I really liked the cream of chicken, mixed 1/4 cup soup to 1/4 cup
non fat milk (I used the lactose free milk as I found I could not tolerate
milk). I blended the soups so that there were no pieces of meat for the
first three weeks. Same with the cream of celery. I mixed the tomato soup
with milk and found it much more enjoyable. I drank Carnation Instant
Breakfast, mixed with additional nonfat dry milk and protein powder each
morning to ensure that I got all of the protein that I required. If you
are able to, you might want to try instant potatoes and make yourself a
mashed potato "soup" and add just a tiny bit of cheese to it.
Don't forget that sugar free popcicles are a great snack and count as
liquid, the same as your SF jello or puddings. Good luck and
congratulations on your surgery! Rene Chambers

Hi, and congratulations on your surgery. I went thru Bariatric Treatment
Center. From day 2-6 I was on clear liquids. Clear liquids (Beef or
chicken broth, sugar-free gelation, sugar-free popsicles, diluted apple,
grape or white grape juice, sugar-free crystal light, kool-aid, lemonade or
decaffeinated coffee or tea. Day 7-20 I was on Full liquids(skim milk,
sugar-free pudding, low-fat strained or cream soups (no tomato soup),
carnation instant breakfast, hot cocoa, smoothies, smooth yogurt (no nuts).
Day 21-34 pureed foods. Day35-41 soft foods and day 42 regular foods.
You need to follow your doctors diet plan explicatly because you need to
give you stomach the require 6 weeks it needs to heal. You don't want to
put something heavy in your stomach and possibly tear anything. Remember
you have a very small stoma now.
You will reap the benefits in the long run. I am now 18 months post-op and
have lost 131 pounds. I went from 259 to 128 pounds and do not have any
doubts in this major surgery. I wish you well on your way, and you will
get to eat soon enough. Good luck.
