Question:
does anyone think that eating a 12oz cup of chili from wendy's is too much @ 3mo out?
I'm 3 months post-op and I can eat a large cup of chili from wendy's. I feel full afterwards but not unpleasantly full. Is that out of the ordinary for 3 months out to be able to eat that much? — Kim J. (posted on July 30, 2003)

I could only eat maybe 3-4 ounces at three months of the chili from
Wendy's. Now at almost seven months I cam almost eat the whole twelve
ounces, almost that is. Seems like a lot to eat at once for you, but how is
your protein intake in general, and your weight loss?

I can only eat about 1/4 to 1/2 of the serving. I save the rest for
dinner. I'm six months post-op.

I couldn't have come even close at 3 months out (open-RNY too)...at one
year out I can eat the whole thing, with cheese added IF I don't eat
anything else. Is this typical of how much you can eat? How do you do on
more dense foods like meat?

I still can only eat the small chili w/cheese. At the end of my profile I
have a posting by another long termer Carol A. It explains about being
able to eat a lot of food.

I could have about 3 oz of Wendy's chili at 3 mos out; now at 10 mos. out,
I can have 3/4 of the small chili (provided I haven't had much to drink in
the hour or so before having the chili).

You might want to check with your doctor on this. I am 3 months out in 2
days and I can only eat MAYBE half of a small chili. Hope this helps!
Good luck to you.

I could eat a small Wendy's Chili (1 cup) at 1 month out. I've never tried
eat a large...I'm sastified after a small, never a full feeling but
sastisfied. How long does it take you to eat it? If you eat it over a
long period of time that might explain why your able to eat that much.

I'll be 3 months out next week and I can only eat about 2 ounces of
anything semi-solid, like chili. I can eat a little more of something like
yogurt or soup, if I eat it slowly.

I have eaten Wendy's Chili 2 times and the both times I pretty much
finished it. I didn't feel full, just satisfied, at first. But as the day
went on I was FULL. In fact I couldn't eat anything the rest of the day. I
am only 1 month out!

I can finish a small one but haven't tried a large cup (don't see the
reason to buy a large anything anymore!) For me, it goes down well,
whereas something more solid like chicken, I can eat much less of. Just a
thought, but we should really only eat until satisfied, not until full. It
takes a long time to learn the difference. I am trying but it is difficult
to unlearn old habits. Good luck!

I am 4.5 months post op and have had a small Wendy's chili 3 times. The
first time was about 1 month post, I ate about 1/2 of it. The second time
was about 2-3 months and I ate most of it (but it was VERY soupy), the
third time was at 4 months and I ate the whole small serving. The point
I'm trying to make is that sometimes you can eat more than other times AND
Wendy's chili is sometimes really thick and sometimes really thin (I guess
it depends who's ladleing!) Don't worry, I'm sure you were satisfied a
good part of the day which is what's supposed to happen. Every day is a
different story, some days are eating days and some days aren't. You'll
work it all out in time. Good luck!!

I am 5 1/2 montths out and I could finish one, no problem. I stop myself
by only getting the smaller size. I wonder about my ability to eat
sometimes, but then every once and awhile I get a reminder that I DID have
the surgery. My capacity fluctuates from day to day, depending on the
density of the food I am eating.
