My surgeon suggested altering the famous "food pyramid" to a
ratio of 40% protein, 30% fat, 30% carbs. This is of course for a longer
term post-op. As a newer pre-op at 1 year I was limited to daily amounts
of 1000-1200 calories,
<30 grams fat, >70 grams protein, and <125 grams carbs.

Different surgeons and nutritionists will give you different stats for all
of these. I'll give you the ones I received. I was told not to count fat
at all as the body will malabsorb a portion of it(obviously stay away from
high fat or fried foods as they will make you sick). Calories depend on
how far out you are- 500 or so by week 8, 800 by week 12-16, and 1000-1200
by 1 year out. Protein is 60-70 grams a day, carbs should be under 100
grams a day (many others will suggest 20 or under). Water should be 64 oz
or more per day. As I said, though, other surgeons have different takes on
this but most agree on the amount of protein and water.
