Question:
My friend was to have her wls 5/19,,,
right before being wheeled into surgery, she was given the drug Reglan, along with a relaxant. She had a very bad reaction to the reglan...became agitated and out of control. Her surgery had to be postponed because of this. Has anyone had this happen or heard of it happening to someone else? — Bonnie R. (posted on May 20, 2003)

I get a dystonic reaction to Reglan (and a couple of other drugs). It
looks almost like a seizure.

I had to be in the hospital a month ago for dehydration and they gave me
Reglan by IV to calm my stomach. Well, after about 5 minutes, I HAD to get
off the table, couldnt sit still, felt like my skin was crawling and I was
very agitated. I ended up siging out againt medical advice cause I couldnt
wait any longer. It was an instant reaction for me.

Bonnie, WHOAAAAAAA, this is sooooo me. I did not have problems with the
Reglan until after surgery. I started having panic attacks and was very
agitated myself. I can see why they cancelled the surgery. They want the
reaction to subside. If she goes into surgery with a reaction it my
complicate the procedure, I don't know. Well, I just wanted to say that I
could relate. Just tell them NOT to give her reglan and give her
Phenergran. That is what they gave me and I was good to go. Hope this
helps.
