Question:
Help with appeal for diet history! (pretty please)
Hello everyone. I have Cigna EPO. I was denied because of lack of a diet history. I will get records from PCP which will show some diet history. I want to make sure I get the appeal done right, can you help? Do you think it would help to have an attorney write the letter for me? I have a neighbor who might just charge a small fee to do it. What do you think? Are there sample letters geared for the diet history? Also can they deny me for another reason after I file the appeal that has nothing to do with the diet history? I would hate to think they can keep finding something, or do they need to deny for all the reasons the first time? Thanks, Nicole [email protected] — Nicole R. (posted on May 7, 2003)

Email me, my firm might be able to help. We have 100% success rate in NY
alone for exclusions which are almost impossible to overcome. Gary

I was denied for the same thing. I called Cigna today and found out that
they now want 3 different 12 supervised diets. I was also told that I would
need nutritional classes, nutritional eval. cardio eval, pulminary eval.
psych eval, excercise eval,. When I first called Cigna about the surgery I
was told that the only thing I would need was a letter of medical
neccessity from my pcp. Clearly Cigna is in the job of making this
difficult and is not forthcoming with all the info. that they should give
in the first place. I figure it will take me 9 months to get the 3 diet in,
by the way I asked them to define supervised diet, they refused, said I
would have to send in diet info after I had completed them and they would
decide then if they were appropriate. Go figure. Good luck.
