How long does the process of hair falling out take?

Robin, I know this can be so frustrating! I started to lose my hair about 6 months out, by 8 months it slowed down and eventually stopped. So it was 2 months of hair coming out in clumps, then maybe a few weeks of hair coming out- more than usual in the brush and hands- but alot less than before. And I know the feling- I ate ATON of protein, but it doesn't matter sometimes, it just wants to fall out. Now at 10 months, all my hairs are growing in, so I have baby hair everywhere! Goodluck to you, don't worry it will soon stop an dstart growing again!

Robin, I had a hysterectomy in October 2002 and my hair loss is just starting to taper off. My doctor explained (and many people on this site can attest to this) that a common side effect of being put under general anesthesia is hair loss. I went to GNC and purchased some mega multivitamins so hopefully this will aid in hair regrowth. It's pretty frustrating knowing that as soon this phase of hair loss is over, I'll be undergoing WLS and the hair loss will most likely resume once again! Thank goodness the only people who can tell are me and my hairdresser. Don't worry, though. I'd like to think that when this sort of thing happens, the hair comes back even stronger and healthier than before (I try to keep a positive spin on this frustrating experience). :-)

I lost my hair from 3 months to 7 months (Yes, 4 months of hair loss!!!!) I finally got over that hurdle and started getting some regrowth and then I started losing it again at 10 months and I am still losing it at 11 months. I eat a ton of protein, take all my vitamins (plus some), exercise, drink water and take great care of myself so I am the perfect example of someone who this "just happens to". I've tried Biotin, Hair & Nails Vitamins and all kinds of shampoo's, but nothing has worked. It just happens and you just need to deal with it...unfortunately!!! :-)
