Question:
A Word about Oranges and Blockage
After 10 months of doing great I got a blockage from an orange. I didn't get all the membrane off the orange. Didn't realize that it was blocked until 1 week later when I was eating dinner and the orange changed position and instantly caused severe abdominal pain and vomiting. They tried to unblock me with an endoscopy but wasnt successful. I had to go thru surgery. I am now running a fever and hurting. I just came home today and will probably go back to the hospital tomorrow. SO please before you eat anything make sure you clean it and chew chew chew. You do not want to go through this again...Michelle — michelle B. (posted on March 26, 2003)

Michelle, I'm sorry you are going through so much pain. But I do want to
thank you for the heads up. My biggest problem is eating too fast and not
watching what I'm doing. I eat an orange a day so I will be much more
careful after knowing what you went through. Hope you get to feeling
beeter soon. Sidney Open RNY 10-23-02 down 70+

Oh my! Thanks for the advice. I love oranges and eat at least one a day.
I never even thought about blockages from them. Hope you're all better
real soon.

I am 6 wks post op and yesterday tried to eat 1 segment of an orange for
the first time. ALthough I chewed it really well, it did give me a stomach
ache. I think it will be a while before I eat any part of another orange.
