Question:
This morning I took Zinc 50 mg. on a empty stomach and about 1 hr. later I had

severe pain in my stomach. I had to go to the emergency room. They took test (checked for leak) everything was ok. Can anyone tell me if they have experenced anything like this? Could it be i took the zinc on a empty stomach. Maybe I have the stomach flu. Im not sure. Surgery date 12-6-02.    — Lisa A. (posted on March 11, 2003)

I have not had the surgery yet but i was told by my doctor to take a zinc tablet everyday with my vitamin and i took it in the morning before my cereal and i threw up for what seemed like an eternity. I can take 1/2 of the tablet with food now and not get sick. hope that helps:) jeannie

I too had the same problem with zinc. Gave me a terrible stomach ache. I now just take a vitamin that has zinc in it with no problems.

Yes, zinc can be abrasive for some. Try it with food. I never take any of my vites on a totally empty pouch.

Hi, sad to say even after reading the warning on the bottle to take with food, I did the exact same thing and ended up like you. I felt silly at the time, but I know better now. It did not even dawn on me until a few days later that that was where I went wrong. Never again will I do that. :-)
