I have a history of keloids and my lap scars are keloided. I'm trying Kelocote and considering cortisone injections in the future. Lap DS 6/5/02 - 105 lbs size 8/10

I've used Mederma on my breast lift and RNY scars and they are looking so much better. The breast lift scars were relatively new and they are very light. The RNY scar was eight months old and it is getting lighter. One plastic surgeon I went to does not believe that it has anything to do with the Mederma, but that I just scar well. Maybe he is right, I massage the Mederma in for one or two minutes and try to do it three times a day, so maybe its the massage that helps. Regardless, I still recommend it and will use it on my future plastic surgery scars.

I'm 5 weeks post op, had an open procedure. The incision is 2 1/2 inches long the top 2 inches is completely healed, the bottom started leaking at week 2 so it hasn't healed yet. I was worried since I'm yellow I thought the scar would be darker than my skin, but it's not. You can barely see it. And I didn't put anything on it.

I keloid up quite well thank you very much, as proof by a breast reduction surgery I had 20 years ago. I have ugly marks under my breast and I've learned to live with them, sometimes I will put some body coverup make up on the scars, but sometimes when the pump up again there's no hiding them. Funny thing, I went on a lunch date with a guy this afternoon, and he asked about my scarring and I told him yes there is a long scar up and down my abdomin and if he doesn't like it take a hike. It's a sister thang. lol I think at this point in life, we've been through enough bull that it's not worth worring about it too much. Though I wish there was a way to make it go away for good, it's not pretty, but I'm sure I'll find a way to make it pleasing to the eye at some point.
