Question:
HELP, Loss of desire!!!!!!!

Calling all post ops!! I am in desperate need of advice. I am currently 18 months post op and have lost around 136lbs and also, my desire to be intimate with my DH. I have looked and read all I can in the library on this and do not really see what I am looking for. I love DH dearly and hate to see him so disappointed in my lack of desire for him or rather I should say "within myself". I want and need to fix this. Can anyone suggest any type of vitamin or herbal supplement that may have helped you or someone you know, feel more vibrant?! Thank you for all your support :)    — ncgal (posted on February 15, 2003)

I'm 9 1/2 months out (and exactly 100lbs as of this morning ! yeah me!)and suffering from the same thing! I'm thinking of trying the new drug Avlimil. I saw the commericial on TV and went to their website. It's not a prescription drug and is non-hormonal. It is expensive but I'm seriously thinking of trying it. The website is www.avlimil.com. Has anyone tried this? If I do order it I will give an update :)

Michelle, I don't know the miracle cure, but you're not alone! I've become SO self concious of my body and the extra skin that I've lost almost ALL of my "desire" ... While my husband could care less, in fact he's excited about his new wife, I can't seem to get out of this "slump" ... Just to let you know you're not alone! I'll be interested in hearing the rest of the responses to this question!

Ladies, I have heard of some stuff called NIAGRA. It is supposedly a female equivalent to Viagra. It is a blue liquid and comes in a bottle like soda. I don't know where to get it nationally, it is sold in a little shop by our house. You can read what ABC had to say about it here: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/GMA/GoodMorningAmerica/GMA010326_Niagra_Love_Potion.html Hope it helps you guys out.

You might need to make an appointment to see your gynecologist. Maybe there is something that he/she can suggest or prescribe for you. I keep hearing about this new drug called Avlimil for female sexual dysfunction. Maybe that might work. Good luck!

I can't speak for it personally but I have a lot lately about women taking Viagra and getting their desire back just like men. Discuss with your doctor.

Hi there, Michelle! How about some Horny Goat Weed! This is real stuff, we gave it to my Father-in-law who didn't want Viagra and wanted a pick me up. My Moter-in-law said his pick me up almost broke the bed! :-O LOL Ask your doctor first to make sure it's okay, they sell it at GNC. Have fun! Vi open RNY 9/23/02 down 105 lbs.

Michelle, I too am in the same boat as you. I am 15 months post op and have had sex 4 times. I have lost ALL desire. I have seen doctors/specialists, tried Viagra, Dream Cream, Testosterone cream and pills (same as the new Avlimil), the OTC ladies herbal viagra, Christy's Toy Box, and still NOTHING! The specialist I saw told me that my lab work showed my testerone levels to be extremely low. She gave me a 6 month supply of testerone and said if the desire was not back within that time frame it would never come back (this is month 4 so I'm getting worried). We are only 32 years old so this really bums me out (not near as badly as my DH) I love my DH very much and I want to make him happy but it's like there is NOTHING! The specialist also said that when a woman goes without sex for a long time that she loses the desire, so if I could just suffer through it a dozen times or so it may very well bring back the desire, actually what she said is, "If you don't use it you lose it, so put it to work". She also said to try ROMANCE, well I'm sorry, my husband is the best, but ROMANTIC HE"S NOT, and when he tries to be I get frustrated at how he goes about it and that only makes me have less desire:( IF ANYONE FINDS A SOLUTION PLEASE SHARE WITH US ALL:)
