Question:
Anyone else having trouble with static electricity?
I know this is an odd question, but has anyone else had a problem with static electricity since surgery? I have never had a static cling issue till now. Ever since my first day post-op, I have noticed my hair is FULL of static! It looks like I am touching one of those static balls! I have started using Static Guard just so my hair will lay down. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. — oneL (posted on January 18, 2003)

Static electricity happens when the air is very dry, and right now on the
East coast with this long blast of cold weather, I'm getting shocked all
over the place! Can't kiss hubby without one of those "ouch"
electric kisses! Doubt it has anything to do with the surgery...

Me Too!! It's terrible, I thought it was just me! What do we do???????? All
I have found that I can do is after I curl my hair in the morning I spray a
pic comb with hairspray and then run it through my hair, then I can't brush
my hair all day or it stand s on end! I looked on the net for hair product
solutions but I couldn't find any, my hairdresser said that she'd never
seen anything like it before (my hair static, that is) GOOD LUCK, if you
come up with something PLEEEEEAAASE let me know!

Try a product called Static Guard, yeah, the same stuff you spray on your
clothes. If you spray a small amount on your palm and run your hand
through your hair, it will help with static. Or you can spray a very small
amount on your hairbrush and brush your hair. A girl I work with does this
every single day because her hair gets soooo static-y and fly-away. Good
Luck! Have A Sparkling Day!!

OMG me too!Mine is that little shock I get on a door knob or touching
someone. I'm a little freaked out after seeing news reports on static elec.
at the gas pumps, I think I will keep some dryer sheets in the glove box.

I had to laugh when I saw this question...I'm not having the problem with
my hair or clothes, it's me! Everything I touch I get shocked, and
sometimes it's big and really hurts...Store shelves, shopping carts, my car
door, my keys, everything. I dropped my keys getting into the car two days
ago, and got shocked when my fingers brushed the pavement to pick them
up...it's crazy...Oh well, I'm glad I'm not the only one..lol..maybe I'll
try the dryer sheets, too.

I think I can clear up why you have been having this trouble. I too have
had this same problem. Now that you have had surgery you are taking in
less fat you hair will show it. In other words if you have alot of fat in
your diet then your hair will shine and will not be dry. Have you ever
heard of adding fat to a dogs diet...or putting a raw egg on top of their
food to give them a healthy shean to their coat. It would be the same
concept. Try using some mayo for conditioning and see if that works. Just
make sure you rinse it out really well. Also I have noticed that if I wash
my hair in cold water that helps me too since it leaves some of the
essential oils on the scalp and hair. Good Luck!

Oh yeah.....I forgot......if you have trouble when touching things and
getting a little or big shock try using lots of lotion. I put lotion on my
hands, arms and feet several times a day and that seems to have cut down on
all that pesky static.

Hi there,Michelle! Thanks so much for ASKING this question. I am going to
try all the suggestions, my kitties don't want to come near me because of
it! They try to get close to be cuddled and ZAP! all I see is cats flying
through the air. hehe. Today I had to trim one of our cats hair and most
of it stayed on me, instead of in the trash. Now where is that hand
lotion? Vi. open RNY 9/23/02 down 93 lbs.
