Question:
Will starting Protein Drinks 5 months post op help?
I am 5 months post op and have lost 80 lbs, but have not lost anything in about 3 weeks. I've also noticed increasing weakness in my legs. At my 3 months check up all labs were fine. Do you think starting protein drinks such as Real Meals at this late stage will help jumpstart the weight loss again? — Sandi E. (posted on January 17, 2003)

First, congrats on such a great weight loss! You seem to be about where I
was at 5 months, now at over 7 months post-op I have lost 100 lbs and am
15/20 pounds from my goal. I would def. give protein drinks a try. Extra
protein seems to be the mantra in losing more weight. My legs and whole
body felt week for a month or two, but not immediately after surgery. I
know I needed to exercise, but it's hard when you feel so weak. Eventually
the weakness just went away on it's own, so i wouldn't worry too much about
that, esp since your labs were fine (that was the case with me as well) I
think you will find adding more protein will help you alot- it's never too
late to add it! Goodluck to you :)

I had really slowed down at around four months post op and tried Real Meals
after seeing it on here. It made a huge difference I started losing faster
again and my energy went back up.
