I have not had surgery yet. I just wanted to let you know that I am sorry you are going through this. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I personally think that you should get the surgery done asap because you are only prolonging your suffering right now. I would check around and maybe get a second oppinion. I pray that you have a lot of warm loving arms around you to hug you often. God Bless you. Take care.

These types of complications that you and others that have undergone RNY via LAP have just once more reasured me that going OPEN sometimes the First time is the Right way. Unfort you are learning the hard way, I am totally surprised you were not opened back up - back in Sept. You need to seek a Second opinion from a More Experienced Surgeon who deals with complications of RNY. Sepsis from a abcess can be deadly when left untreated and/or not agressive enough. Not so sure I would want this surgeon going back inside me after all the probelms you have had, some sounded like they are directlly related to the procedure itself, Spleens don't just develop hemotomas naturally. That is due to trauma and to just remove it is not necessarilly the answer. Organs can reabsorb blood. Your situation is screaming for a more experienced surgeon before he messes something more up! Good Luck

There are so many of us who are here for you. Count me among them. I think that getting a second or third opinion is a great idea, and that you should get as much information from your doctor as you can, even to the point of getting a copy of your medical records. After all, they are YOUR medical records (there may be a charge for the photocopying). Hang in there, bunky, you're being prayed for! Margie B

Janelle, Please don't prolong this, I would have the second surgery but make sure you fully understand everything that is going on. You do not seem to be getting better the way you are now. A second surgery may be painful and longer recovery but the outcome may be better. I am praying for you! I had a pic line for 18 days so I know how miserable you are. GOD BLESS!!

I agree with the earlier poster who suggested a second opinion. You need to find another bariatric surgeon to confirm (or offer an alternative to) what your surgeon said. Whatever you do, don't spend anymore time procrastinating. You need to do something soon. Most likely, corrective surgery will make you feel a whole lot better. Think positive. We're all here for you!

Hello, My name is Caren, I'm Lelands wife i do most of his updated and ect... My responce to you is to have the secound surgery. I know what your going through, Leland has has 2 surgerys and looing at another if they can't get his leak to heal on it's own. He had his 1st surgery on the 3rd of Jan and he was rushed back in on the 4th due to a leak that they found after his leak test the following day. He did end up in th CCU cause he had a very hard time coming out of the 2nd one.. He had a tube down his nose, being fed lipids and 2 drains in his stomach, He was very depresed! The leak was not at the staple line. They don't know how it got there, Everyone can assume how, And I have my thoughts. But I also know that this surgery was very risky to begin with. I love my husbund very very much, If I could take the pain away from what he has had to go through I sure would. I do know he really wanted to have this surgery other wise why would anyone do all the test to get there! We were in the hospital for 21 days before we got to go home. The leak test showed it was healed before we left, But it wasn't. We go to the Dr 1-2 times per week. Time and God are on our side.. And God will be on yours! Caren

First of all, I am deeply sorry for your situation, I didn't have the same complications, but I did suffer with some life-threating ones of my own, so I have an idea of how scared you are right now. Secondly, I was wondering about the surgeon, do you have faith in him, anymore? If not, please find yourself the best surgeon available that will help you immediately. You are worth the best, and if he's not it, then find out who is. You can't waste any time, things can get worse, so if it's broke you HAVE to fix it. Please take good care of yourself and have faith that this will be resolved soon. I will pray for you. God Bless!
