Question:
HELP! I don't want to get postponed!

I feel like I am coming down with a cold. My head hurts and I've been blowing my nose all day. I'm not sure, but it might be allergies or something (I don't even know if I have allergies). I had both doors open for awhile today cuz it was nice outside, then the wind picked up. But since then I've been stuffed up. Can I take something? or should I just ride it out and hope for the best? I'm scheduled for Monday the 14th and I don't want to get cancelled because of this!    — pjnick (posted on October 7, 2002)

I had a cold going into my surgery. I called the Doctor and he gave me a shot and told me to take it easy, and he went ahead with my surgery. This was 4 days before my surgery. Our system goes down with the worry and stress of haveing any surgery, much less one we need and want so badly. Take it easy, a lot of us get sick right before.

The turning of the seasons always brings about allergy problems for me and the severity seems to increase when the summers have been dry (as in geez, the whole country has been in a drought). I live in the Northeast and I've been battling allergies for the past three days. Beautiful weather, open the doors, nice breeze, now sneeze :-)! You should call your surgeon and/or your doctor. If it's allergies, they can give you stuff to dry you out. Hang in there.

Hi Pam!!! My original surgery date of August 2 this year was postponed due to onset of diabetes. Well guess what?? week before my surgery date of Sept. 27 I GOT THE FLU!!!! Omg I was a mess needless to say. I went to my PCP right away and he gave me a decongestant and asked I stay home from work for a couple of days. I asked him if they would postpone my surgery and he replied only if I had a fever and and if the mucous I was blowing was green/yellow in color. The pills helped he gave me..still felt kinda blah the day of the surgery but everything went as planned and things are GREAT!!!!! Take care and Good luck!!! ~Traci~
