Question:
What about long-range results?
I have read all the info from post-ops and everything sounds great, but what about long-term effects? Sny hazards down the road? Anyone out there who did this 5 years ago? How about 10, 15 or 20 (or more). Who out there is the longest post-op? — pjnick (posted on October 7, 2002)

There is a doctor in New Haven, Dr. Reinhold that has patients 10-15 years
post op that are still doing well.

My doctor has been doing this for 20 years and he is still tracking them.
He only has one patient who developed problems and needed a reversal but
the problem was not due to her surgery but to a health related problem.

Hey the nurse who runs rhe surgical waiting area at presby is a 15 year RNY
veteran. She looks great! Said her labs and weight are fine. Back when she
had surgery they didnt have all the plans and support we do. She did point
at the vending machine right across from her desk. Said THAT MACHINE is why
I dont bring money to work! She says she has never regretted the surgery
and I gave her the address here in the hopes she visits. If anyone has any
specific questions for her please e mail me and I will pass them along. Jen
will likely be getting her gall bladder out, so I will be back there. I am
also going to suggest she visit our support group and say hi. So many folks
wonder about the real long termers, it would be great for everyone to hear
her tell her story.
