This may sound crazy, but could you be pregnant? I found out I was
pregnant 16 weeks post-op and my gums bled alot.

Pregnancy is a possibility, but I was thinking simply of a vitamin C
deficiency. Vitamin C is responsible for proper healing, immunity, and
aiding in proper Iron absorption. A pretty good deficiency will cause
bleeding gums. It would be worth upping the dose for a while to see what
happens. You can get the lozenges or chewables at Wal-Mart. Or...you may
want to call the doctor first, but I'm almost sure it is something really
simple. Good Luck.

It sounds like Periodontal disease. You should see your dentist. I had
this during my first pregnancy. The dentist explained to me that pregnancy
wasn't causing it, but my bodily resources that were tyring to keep it in
check were busy with the baby so it worsened.
No biggie though. They just scale your gums.

At 6-weeks our bodies are still going through hormonal changes. If you can
rule out pregnancy AND you are flossing daily and brushing at least twice a
day then it it most likely hormonal. Is it getting to be that lovely time
of the month? I always get tender gums that may spot bleed a bit right
around that time of the month. If your still unsure, go see your dentist
and have them take xrays and measure the "pocket" space between
your teeth and gums... this will determine the health of your soft tissues
(i.e. periodontal disease) I was in the dental field for several years so
I hope I have been of some help to you.

Mine did that at that stage I think it was from eating soft foods for so
long. After I started eating regular foods again it went away.
