Question:
I was wondering if when people eat out, or are just out...........
what do people drink? Especially when at a restaraunt? They dont have crystal light at most places. LOL Just wondering. I went out the other day and had a cup of tea, just wondering if anyone had anyother suggestions? Lisa Ducey 9 weeks out — Lisa D. (posted on February 22, 2002)

I just drink water at restaurants. I haven't gone to bars with friends or
anything yet. I think I'll order cranberry juice if/when I do. I figure I
get to be the Designated Driver from now on, so juice isn't a big deal. At
least my friends will be safe!! :-D

I drink water or decaf tea or I always have Splenda on me, order a dish of
lemons and put it w/Splenda in the water and make my own lemonade.

My drink of choice when I go out is plain old ice water. It goes goodby as
soon as the food comes though.

Okay, guys ... please don't flame me, but I have about 8 oz. of ginger ale
when I eat out. It's not enough to make me dump and it makes me feel like
I'm having something special. I also have a large glass of ice water.
Hope this info. is helpful. (Please don't tell me this practice will stop
my weight loss dead in its tracks, because I've already lost 165 lbs.,
drinking ginger ale since month 6.) My opinion: MODERATION IN ALL
THINGS!!!!

I HAVE WATER? AND SOME TIMES I HAVE A FEW GLASSES OF WINE RIGHT BEFORE MY
MEAL ARRIVES TO THE TABLE. MOSTLY WHILE CHATTING. BUT AFTER I EAT I
ACTUALLY WAIT 30 MINS TO DRINK ANYTHING ELSE. AND SOME TIME MY GUEST IS
REALLY READY TO GO, BUT I JUST KEEP ON CHATTING.

I always drink water. I often ask for a slice of lime... not lemon, ugh.
:-) I stop drinking when the food arrives. 20-30 minutes after I'm done
eating, if we're still talking, I'll start drinking water again. Once in a
long while, if everyone else is having it, I'll socially have a decaf
coffee. What a splurge! LOL

I usually get Ice tea, unsweetened. Then i Dr. it up with splenda or
equal. I do great with the beverages, but have a hard time eating in
public. I feel like I need to hurry. Then I feel sick...:(

Early post op I would tell the waiter or waitress "no beverage"
so I wouldn't forget and drink with my meals due to the habit of a
lifetime. I found out quickly that if you don't have a beverage it drives
the waitstaff crazy because they are trained to watch glasses and keep them
filled. When they can't see a glass, they think they forgot you or
something. Anyway ... now I just get water, drink until the food arrives,
then push the glass away. NOT drinking with meals has become second nature
now. Pre-op I just knew I would choke to death if I couldn't have the
glasses and glasses of iced tea I was used to with meals. It is like
anything else .... just a habit.

I use dringk water with lemon 9 times out of 10 and I might sip a little
during the meal. I then have gotten used to asking for a to-go cup for the
water as I love my great-tasting lemon water very much as wait and drink it
later!Silly, but it makes me feel good anyway. Usually I always end up with
a doggie bag and the water cup to go. No waiter has ever not had a cup for
me to take it to go either.
