Question:
I was wondering if anyone has been denied by kaiser, and for what reasons

This site has a wonderful section for just these such insurance questions. Go to the top of the page and click on "insurers" and follow the instructions. You can research your state and those that have used different insurance companies. The companies are alphabetical and you can see each members' experiences with them. There is denial/approval/appeal information with each one. Also available with each entry is the members e-mail address. Maybe you could e-mail them your specific questions? Hope this helps. Shelley

I am a Kaiser member (and employee) my primary md told me I did not qualify for the surgery, so I went asked around and got the name fo a docotor that really support it, made an appointment and have been approved! So my best advise is to try another MD- especially if your close to the requirements- I think alot of it has to do with the MD recommendation-

I was denied twice by Kaiser (just for a referral) i'm 5'4;296 pounds BMI 51. They said i was overweight but not unhealthy.. they suggested that i see a nutritionist. I left them and now have BC/BS. i dont even need a referral to see a WLS!
