Question:
Has anyone with United Healthcare EPO had immediate approval?
Because I hear that so often that some get approved within 24-48 hrs and I have been waiting for 3 days now and I am starting to get worried. Also if Wls is an exclusion does the ins co. tell you right away? Thanks in advance.... — [Anonymous] (posted on November 15, 2001)

You can call UHC customer service and see if there is an
exclusion. I would then call the dr. office and see exactly
when it was faxed to the ins. Mine only took a couple of
days after it was actually faxed. Good luck:)

I was in the process of doing all my pre-op testing and the surgeon then
submitted the request for approval. It only took a few days. I wouldn't
worry. I know they cover it. Call the insurance company and ask if you
are covered...read my profile....i have alot of nice things to say about
them.

My approval for Open Roux-En-Y took two weeks. However, United Healthcare
EPO has an exclusion for reconstructive (or as they consider it
"cosmetic") surgery, which is not covered under any circumstances
as I've been told.
