Question:
Has anyone had post-op liposuction?

I'm fairly happy with my post-op body. But, 35lbs. from goal and I realize that my Butt is my problem area. Specifically, I have a "fat pocket" on each cheek. Working out is helping matters. Are there any other ladies who have or had this problem. I'm thinking lipo would help. But, do you have to be thin for lipo? I would appreciate hearing any thoughts, experiences, opinions.    — [Anonymous] (posted on November 5, 2001)

...I meant to say working out is NOT helping matters.....freudian slip, I guess.

I can't see why you wouldn't be able to get it. I know someone who lost about 150lbs, although not through WLS. She has managed to keep it off for almost five years. She is a size 7/8 and exercises like a maniac, but like many other women out there she had some spots that just wouldn't firm up. Girl, she's had it all done! Thighs, butt, belly... If I were you, I would likely wait until I reached goal, but then go for it! You worked very, very hard to get rid of the excess fat on your body - you deserve to have a plastic surgeon fix up whatever's left! Best of luck on that last 35!

Although I didn't have that particular thing (plenty of others!), I have seen some FABULOUS results here locally. Just a lump here, or lump there, suddenly blended in, or the fat pads at the knees, saddlebags tucked in. It's the coolest thing! Our surgeon will do lipo WITH a TT, and they also say the lipo is more uncomfy (bruising), but they are OH SO PLEASED with the result.

It sounds like you had the exact problem I did. I looked like I had no butt at all because I had these pockets of fat hanging over my butt cheeks. When I had my abdominoplasty, I also had lipo in that area. Bloody amazing, really, the difference. I'm 5'4" and was wearing a size 16 the day I had the lipo done, so I wouldn't say you need to be "thin," although that depends on the surgeon. Some simply won't operate on you unless you're within 15 pounds or so of a "normal" weight/size.
