Hi, I had my surgery in september open rny with Dr. Mark Gibbs in Little
Rock AR> I live in Missouri so I traveled a couple of hundred miles. I
must tell you he is an awesome surgeon. NO complications what so ever and
the best part is (I am self pay too) the cost for the entire surgery was
12,000 including hospital, surgeon and anesthesia. Baptist Medical has a
package deal for gastric bypass for 6 nights (whether or not you use all 6)
is 7,000. the surgeon is 3600 and the anesthesia is 800. I dont know if
you are open to traveling down there but it was a great option for me. He
has patients from that area a lot. His number is 501-227-9080 you will
need to talk to Ashley, his nurse. Good luck

There is a Dr Hanan in Oklahoma City (405) 235-3245 that is wonderful. He
accepts self pay. Very good reputation. I waited to see him 2 weeks.
His surgery wait is about 1 month. I did not end up using him though so I
have no experience to share. I chose a doctor closer to home to make it
more convienient for my family. GOOD LUCK!

Dr. Gorospe did my surgery on July 9. He was just starting to get the huge
waiting list when I got my date in May. There is another doctor in Tulsa
at St. Francis who has started doing the gastric bypasses. His name is
Frank Mitchell. I am not sure of his number, but it will be in the phone
book. I have had a couple of friends who have used him and they have been
very pleased with his before, during and after care program. He has a
support group on the fourth Tuesday of each month. E-mail me and I will
give you the names of my friends who used Dr. Mitchell. I am sure they
would be glad to talk to you. The wait time for a surgery date with Dr.
Mitchell is not anywhere near the length of wait with Dr. Gorospe. I have
met Dr. Mitchell and heard his presentation at his support group. He is
very knowledgable of the procedures and willing to sit and answer questions
for as long as you have them. His assisting surgeon, Steven Katsis and his
nurses that are involved in his program also attend his meetings to help
answer questions. Post ops are also there for questions. These meetings
are not as large as Dr. Gorospe's support meetings, but they are growing
each month. This has become such a popular surgery that I am sure the
group will grow more and more with time. Good Luck in your search!
