Question:
What happens if we get the NG tube?

Does anyone know exactly why it is that we need an endoscopy versus the ng post op? And what is the difference between the two? I am trying to decide if, I really do need a med alert bracelet or not. Just what would a NG tube do to us?!!    — ncgal (posted on September 25, 2001)

At our local support group meeting the other night, someone asked our doctor this exact question. He said that once our new pouches are completely healed, we do not need to worry about emergency personnel harming our pouches. He said if it makes us feel better to have a medic alert bracelet, by all means, get one. But he thought it would be unnecessary.
