Question:
My insurance is switching Oct 1st!
I just saw surgeon on the 23rd and we found out about this the next day! I have had this insurance for quite a few years. They say it will just roll over, but I am sure papers have been sent to insurance already for approval. Anyone else experience this? It's scary. Changing from CCN to BCBS. I posted this once but no response. Just hoping the right person will see this post and tell me some info. I looked in the library to find one like mine. But no luck, thanks, Marie Awbrey — Marie A. My insurance switches on Sept.1st. I am holding everything back until then.
I have seen my PCP and had routine blood test etc. My surgeon will file the
papers after my insurance changes. You should be ok since there wasn't a
break in your coverage, but you are switching to BCBS. Depending on your
plan, they can be a real snot to work with. I know our situations are a bit
different, so this may not help. I would suggest to speak with the
insurance person in your surgeons office for more insight. Good luck

See if you can self pay your insurance for a moth or two. It is better to
be safe.

I feel for you! I had the exact same thing happen to me. I was assured that
the insurance was going to be the same, there were minor changes in the
plan and it actually would be better. It wasn't. I tried to see if I could
pay for the former insurance, but under a group plan through an employer,
it is not allowed (at least in my situation). I also thought I could go
under COBRA or SOMETHING! But, I ended up paying out of pocket. The good
part is, I was less stressed knowing the thing was paid for, I was in
control and I could go through with it, rather than fighting the insurance.
Sounds twisted, but it was worth it for me. If you have a nice HR director,
you may be able to convince the person that you need to have this in the
insurance plan.
