Question:
Has anyone had success in having their hmo go out of network?

Go out of network without paying big out of pocket? Anyone have luck with negotiation for out of network? thanks    — [Anonymous] (posted on July 28, 2001)

I went out of network because I wanted a specific sugeron. Out of pocket epenses were of course the infamous 20-80 split. Look carefully at your benefits, you may have a yearly out of pocket limit which in my case was 1,000. Good Luck hope this helps.

I too went "out of network" not because I wanted someone specifically, but because no one in my network performs the surgery... I have been approved for the 3 op visits and still am waiting to hear for approval for surgery... my primary physician and I had to go through leaps for approval so far.. we had to go through the utilization dept. within the insurance to apply.... good luck...
