Question:
Is anyone going to have the DS in 2 parts?

I was wondering if I could get some feedback from anyone who is going to or has already had the DS in 2 parts. I am interested in hearing how your weight loss has been so far. Thanks for any feedback.    — Cindy S. (posted on May 9, 2001)

Cindy, I did have the DS, but I don't understand what you mean about having it in 2 parts. Do you mean 2 separate surgeries? I have heard of some people having the panni before their WLS, so they are able to get up and walk after surgery. Maybe this is something new, Can you please expand on the 2 part surgery? What info do you have so far? I'll help any way I can.

My surgeon is offering the DS in 2 parts..first you have surgery to have the stomach reduced..then around the 1 year mark, you go back to surgery if needed and have the intestine part of the DS done. Sorry for not explaining it.

I would say no waaayyyyy! Why put yourself at risk again to have 2 surgeries when he can do it all at the same time? You WILL have to have a 2nd surgery or you will gain your weight back. If he insists on this, I would seek another surgeon... Just my 2 cents... (http://www.mywls.com/discus)
