Yes I was approved, but it took aboutsix months total with one appeal. I started in July 1999 and had my surgery at BTC in Dec 1999. I have been most happy with my jouney thur wls and am down 115lbs.

I have the State of MI Health Plan for State Employees administered by Blue Cross-Blue Shield. They have conditions that must be met but there is no pre-approval process. If anyone, other than the people at the number listed on your insurance card tells you differently, I would push the issue. I still don't know all the details but after waiting 4 weeks, it came down to the fact that they didn't need pre-approval. Your surgeon's office will be told by the insurance provider what the guidelines are. My surgery is April 23rd. Good luck to you.
