Question:
Monthly periods and weight gain?

YES YES and YES! I tracked my weight and periods for nearly 2 years. I was glancing over the calendars a while back and DUH!!!! I noticed that I gain 7-8 pounds every time I'm a week before my period. The week before and during my period I crave MAJOR food, sweets and really anything. I once thought that this was my total inability to diet, however, I've noticed a VERY consistent pattern. It only happens the week before my period! What a relief! After my period ends I lose the 7-8 pounds and then some. I saw a very competent female doctor recently who said it's major water retention. I'm so happy and thankful to realize that it's not me, my lack of willpower, etc. It's a physical thing. Now, that I realize this pattern is alive and apparent in my life I watch out for it and know exactly when the time is going to come that I feel like I cannot get enough food. I don't add to the pressure by thinking I'm a failure at dieting. It's merely part of my cycle of life as a woman! 7 weeks post op, down 53 pounds! Open Duodenal Switch!
