I was also still having trouble with meat at the stage you are in now. Now at 8 months out, I can eat all kinds of meat without any problem at all. I was able to tolerate things like lunch meat first, then red meat, and finally chicken. It is very true that things you can't tolerate at one point may work okay for you a few weeks or months down the road. Give it a rest for now and give yourself a little more time to heal, then try again in a bit, see how you do. Good luck!

I am 8 months post-op and still can't tolerate most beef, pork, or chicken. I concentrate on seafood and ground round.

Al's so right, we are all so different.. I was able to tolerate red meat before most others. At 81/2 months post, I still have trouble with chicken unless it's in a sauce or in soup & very finely diced. I can eat steak with no trouble & pork usually goes OK, but I still have days when all meat is a no-go! On those days, I just rely on my protein drinks. I, too, do well with seafood. One item I really like is Chicken & Dumplings. It comes in a small lunchbucket type, microwavable can, in the canned meats section of our grocery. It's made by Dinte Moore (I think) & has 15 grams of protein & about 200 calories. I do very well with it and canned chili (I add grated cheese). Sometimes when I don't seem to be tolerating meat well, I can still eat these "processed meat" items without difficulty.
