Question:
Why am I gaining weight after revision?
I had a revision done on 11/16/2000 for my RNY bypass. this was to repair my staple line disruption and a ulcer. since my surgery I have been gaining weight! I am now at 280lbs and still gaining. (before the SLD I was at 220lbs!) I am eating approx 800 calories a day, watching the sugar, drinking lots of water. Has anyone who has had a revision done had this problem? (weight gain after surgery that doesnt seem to stop.) Daniel — dhuberty (posted on December 13, 2000)

Daniel- I would be very concerned at gaining 60# in a month. I would speak
to the surgeon. Something must be going on it there. Could be a tumor,
fluid, or something else. I don't see how you could gain weight on 800 Cals
a day. Please investigated this, and Let me know the outcome, you'll be in
my thoughts and prayers. God Bless You and Good Luck --

Daniel, get yourself to your surgeon ASAP! The type of water retention you
are talking about can often occur when the body is protein deficient or
other nutrients are out of whack, or can be due to a kidney dysfunction.
While reversible, this type of thing can play havoc on your heart and
lungs. TAKE CARE OF IT NOW!!! DO NOT WAIT!!!
