I think you should ask the surgeon: 1)how long he has been doing this particular surgery (not how long he has practiced medicine), 2)what the expected risks/outcomes are, 3)what kind of complications has he experienced, 4)pre-op requirements, 5)pre-op support 6)post-op support (after-care, 7)ask exactly what to expect during and after surgery, 8)how to reach him for further questions
