Question:
Is it worth it to hire W. Lindstrom to file an appeal?
I was denied by UnitedHealth because of an exclusion. I have exhausted all other avenues except for writing my Senator. — Rhonda S. (posted on September 1, 2000)

I had been fighting with my insurance company for over a year because I had
the surgery done 3 years ago and have been having complications so I need
to have some revisional work done! They had been jerking me around saying
that they were missing information or that they didn't receive faxes from
my doctor...etc. I would call, they would tell me that they would call
back and then I would never hear anything back. I called one time trying
to find out exactly what information they still needed and the insurance
company actually told me that they would not discuss my insurance
information with anyone but my doctor. At that point - I WAS LIVID! So I
called Walter and explained everything to him......it only took one letter
from him and I was approved! He is totally on your side! It's well worth
the call to just talk to him or his wife to see what they have to say about
your case! It was definitely worth the call for me!

I have also hired Walter Lindstrom. GHP has denied my appeal. I am a
federal government employee and this procedure is a covered procedure.
Yet, they make you jump through hoops and every response is different.
Walter, I hope you can win for me!!!!

9/12/00 I too was denied because my insurance carrier (Principal Life) said
there was a written exclusion policy. I sent an email off to Mr. Lindstrom
and his wife and am waiting to receive their reply. If I don't hear by
tomorrow I will call them. Bottom line here is if you don't fight for what
is right, you may not get it. I wish you luck whatever you decide.

I have been denied also by UHC, along with 4 other of Dr. Alverdy's
patients. I wrote to my congressman and immediately filed a complaint with
the Department of Insurance becasue UHC claims the lap surgery is
"experimental". I have talked to Mr. Lindstrom and he said he won
a case with UHC regarding the lap process. I'm like you and undecided if
paying the $700 is worth it. There are no guarantees. What was the
clause? Did it specifically state limitations to "weight loss
surgery"?
