Question:
In my insurance book it states under exclusions and limitations,
I am wondering exactly what this means. Treatment of exogenous obesity unless medically necessary and rendered in connection an unrelated medical condition. Can someone explain this in ENGLISH so when I go to the HMO task force I will know what I am talking about? — Colleen K. (posted on July 23, 2000)

Sounds like they're looking for a co-morbidity. You probably have 12 or
more to throw at them! Degenerative joint disease, sleep apnea, diabetes,
shortness of breath, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and the list
goes on & on. In other words, they aren't going to do it just because
your clothes don't hang right! The listing of the co-morbs just assures
that it's not cosmetic.

EXOGENOUS OBESITY MEANS OBESITY CAUSED BY A CALORIC INTAKE GREATER THAN
NEEDED TO MEET THE METABOLIC NEEDS OF THE BODY.
