Question:
I am scheduled for a RNY on May 8th and I'm just wondering what all I need to buy...
in order to be prepared for my first few weeks post-op. Somebody who has been through this please help me out with my shopping list! — Tracey D. (posted on April 20, 2000)

Hi every doctor has a different post op routine it would be best if you
contacted your surgeons office to get a postop sheet. Here was mine to
give you something to work from: For the first four weeks I was on a
liquid diet. Fruit juices (diluted 50/50 with water), Sugar-free popsicles
(less than 20 cales per popsicle), decaffeinated coffee and tea,
caffeine-free, sugar-free sodas "flat", Tomato, Clamato or V-8
juices. Broths or bouillons. No cream soups. Sugar-free seltzer water,
crystal-lite drinks, Twister lite orange cranberry flavor only, other
sugar-free clear liquids.Sugar free jell-o. I hope this helps but your
doctor should have a post-op sheet that he hands out to all his patients.
Congratulations on your surgery date. Becky Open GB-Medial 8/19/99 start
