Question:
Call me ungrateful!
2/27/00-Call me ungrateful but I have a problem that i am sure that alot of you have...very loose skin. I am 41 years old and have lost 135 pounds. wonderful right? I thought so too until recently when I went to try on shorts for summer. I used to be upset about the weight, now i look terrible in shorts cause of loose skin. I know, exercise..but what exercises? and..don't say surgery cause I have no insurance now that will cover it. Guess I am having alittle problem with the new me. I look older and yet, thinner. I am not sure which is better. I guess I am healthier and should be grateful but it's hard to be. I look like a skeleton on top and saggy baggy the elephant in the arms and legs and breasts. Sorry this is so long. Any help is appreciated. — BARBARA R. (posted on February 26, 2000)

I know exactly what you're talking about. I talked to my nutritionist and a
physical fitness trainer.. Both agreed on this one fact.. When you loose
weight slow like 2 pounds a month..the skin has time to shrink with the
loss. Now, we on the other hand are loosing weight very rapid 20-25 lbs.
a month the first 4 months or so. Our skin can't shrink that fast,
most of the girls give up to soon and will seek out more surgery, give
it time both have told me same thing.. at least two-three years after all
weight lost, for the skin to catch up to the rapid loss. In the mean time
keep all loose skin hydrated so it will stay moist and be able to
shrink. I use Vaseline (the creamy kind) in a round jar. Every night I
have regiment of bath oils and then the Vaseline on my loose skin the
creamy kind is non-greasy and is absorbed right in..you will love the
feel. For now I look at the loose skin as success!!!!!! for I know
this too will pass.. and what does not shrink well, spandex can do
wonders ;-)
