I had to meet certain information, I had to have at least three years
showing I have tried every method in trying to lose the weight. I was
told Medicare will cover the cost.
So I have met their conditions and have been approved for the RNY. Call
your social security and ask them what conditions you have to go by.

Hi. Medicare paid mine no problems at all no waiting period and all I
really had to show was that I was 100 lbs overweight. Your surgeon should
be able to tell you if medicare will pay. They are one of the easiest
insurers to go through IMHO for surgery no plastics you are better to have
ANYTHING other than medicare because they bite when it comes to that stuff.

i believe that medicare does not require preauthorization, but your copay
is 20%, and they do cover the ds. which is very hard to get covered by most
others that give out the rny.
