I am 10 weeks post op and I don't feel like my burp "power" is
the same. I have a hard time burping without carbonation. Its like I dont
have the push to get it up. But everyone is different as I am sure will
find. Good luck. God bless. lap rny 1/27/04 351/292

I am 14 months out and for some reason my burping has never been the same.
I feel like there is more to get out and I'm never quite finished. I guess
I'll have to live with it. If this is the worst thing post-op, then I'm a
lucky woman!!

Too funny! I almost never burped prior to surgery, but now that I'm postop,
I burp ALL the time. It was VERY frequent at first, but now it has slowed
down some (I'm 11 months out now). I assume I burp more because of the size
of the pouch, but I would never have thought that burping was going to be a
factor in my new way of life. BUT, as another poster said, if this is the
worse thing that I have to contend with, I would be one lucky pup.

Hi there, Kathy! I thought this was too funny not to answer and I'm
positive this will sound VERY un-lady like, but here it goes....
Unfortunately, I was raised by 5 baboons ( that I was forced to call my
brothers), so I can belch them as loud as a male sea lion fighting to
defend his women! LOL. :-O I know that's disgusting, I thought that
losing weight would maybe make my "gusto" with less 'gust', but
it has remained the same. I don't touch anything with carbonation, I could
just have plain ole' water and it's there ready to shake the windows and
make our cats think it's thundering outside. Vi. open RNY 9/23/02 down

Hi there!
I don't really burp anymore. I always end up with the hiccups. I only
burp if I swallow air and force it out (like when you have a burping
contest with one of the "baboons" LOL!)

Burping, for me, is itself the same as always. Just lots more of it. I
don't know if I'm just getting more air down there with the way I'm chewing
and swallowing differently, or if it's just the fact that it makes me so
darn uncomfortable, I don't even try to hold it in anymore, when I can help
it! :)
