Question:
I'm 10 wks post-op and have days when I'm throwing up.
I'm having days when I can eat something that I've already eaten before but it will cause me to throw up. Am I eating to fast? It doesn't happen every day or with one particular food. — Karla G. (posted on July 10, 2003)

I throw up EVERY time I eat too fast, or eat under stress, and I am 8 weeks
post op. It usually happens with chicken or tuna, but it could be
anything.

One of the dietitians said that this is normally (not always) caused by
eating too fast, not chewing enough or over eating. Hope you feel better
soon.

Hi Carla, I had the same prob when I was 1 mth post-op and threw up
anything and everything for about 2 weeks straight, I went ot my surgeon
and they did an endoscopy, which only took 30 min to do and very painless,
{was put out}, and they didn't find a stricture, but noticed that I had
some acid build up in my throat which was causing me to throw up alot, so
my dic switched my medicine and put me on nexium, and now it is sooo much
better. The only time I get sick is either when I try something new and it
doesn't agree with me or I eat to fast! So, Call your doc cuz you might
have what I have or maybe even a stricture, which is still easy to fix!
Good Luck to you!

One other potential for chucking after eating would be that you might have
allergies (or something else that causes post-nasal drip); the mucus then
flows down your throat and into your pouch filling it with truly disgusting
tasting gunk. Also, if you are in ketosis, then the ketones could also be
causing your nausea.

I started doing that and found out I am preganant! LOL!! But, I am 19
months post-op too... it can happen at any time.. not the pregnancy, but
the throwing up... our bodies change constantly... so just chew slow, and
slow down. If it doesn't stay put, don't eat/drink it for a while. Watch
for pregnancy, too... I was told I would never be able to have kids, and
now I am pregnant with TWINS! LOL!
