Question:
What do you do post-op that you did pre-op?

Do you find yourself still doing things post-op that you no longer have to do that you had to do pre-op. For example, I am now a size 10-12 and can fit comfortably into any bathroom stall yet I don't even think about it and just go to the handicap stall as they are larger!! Any other behaviors out there like that?    — Cindy R. (posted on April 21, 2003)

I still order food like I am pre op, lol. I cook like a preop.

Yea, I never thought about it but I use the handicap stall also. I also scout out the biggest/strongest chair. I'm still scared to sit on a flimsy chair. Hmmm, maybe some therapy is in order. lol!

I still find myself going to the plus size section (I can shop in regular now) or looking at clothes that are waaaay to big and thinking they will fit.

Yep, I still find myself heading for that handicap stall and for the Plus Size Department. Also those darn lawn chairs still scare me (I guess once you've humiliated yourself crashing down on one it's hard to let go of the memory). I still pull my seatbelts all the way out as far as they will go before trying to buckle them, even in my own car. Yesterday, for Easter Sunday, I actually wore pastels AND horizontal stripes for the first time since I was probably a teenager!!! (A cute pair of capri pants with a matching striped v-neck top in pretty spring pastels...got lots of compliments) When I was still MO, I steered clear of anything but solid primary colors (black was the preferred color of course) and I wouldn't even look at clothes with horizontal stripes! One thing I continue to do with my clothes is refusing to tuck in a shirt. Perhaps I'll get brave enough to do that after a tummy tuck? - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -123lbs.

I still find myself going for the chairs without arms, and tables rather than booths!

I am still afraid of getting stuck in portapotties, though I know I fit just fine now. I still sometimes wait for the handicap stall out of habit. I still turn sideways to get thru areas I should fit thru fine now. I still avoid theaters and such out of old fear, and chose sturdy chairs or catch myself standing. Someday I hope my head catches up with my body!

I still eye and "claim" an end seat at a meal--I absolutely hated being set between two others.
