Question:
Surgery on 10 days - need advice
Hello! I know I will be on a clear liquid diet until my first post-op visit, but I am concerned that I might not feel up to shopping right away when it's time to move on to the next stage. Are there protien shakes and such that I should be ordering now? Anything else that I should be thinking about ahead of time? Thanks in advance! Barb — Barbara C. (posted on March 28, 2003)

As far as protein drinks, I ordered several samples from Vitalady. I was
sure I wasn't going to like any type of protein shakes, so didn't want to
spend a bunch of money on them. I ordered them the day before my surgery,
and they were there when I got home. I didn't really like too many of the
samples, but am able to tolerate a couple of them. Good luck - 3 weeks
post-op and down 21#.

i am 7 days post op. and i went to the gocery store today, did not drive
but walked around, i too was worried i would not feel like it so i had all
my 'things' in. i ordered samples form www.vitalady.com and
www.wlssucess.com and www.vita4life.com from all of these i ofund a few i
could stand (doctoring them up most can be tolerated but with plain water
eeeewww!!!) i had pleanty of 100% juice, canned broth and bullions. jello,
non fat milk, popsicles (which i make myself becase i can not eat artifical
sugar, finally got a pretty good formula! ;o) i was as ready as i could be!
if oyu do not have enough time to order smaples get some protein from GNC,
if it is gross it can be returned! oddly enough i bought lots of chicken
broth becuase i like it best but now i seem to want beef? they say your
tastes change, they do today i craved coffee, i do not like coffee!!
wierd!! good luck!!!

An option my Dr gave me was to add Dry Nonfat milk to everything. If you
can tolerate it, it is a good source of protein. Good luck!
