Question:
My ins only covers short limb bypass
Is short limb distal or Proximal. This is very confusing to me. I did search the arcives but none of the answers realy applied to my question. Thanks!! — Kim R. (posted on February 5, 2003)

I think short-limb means proximal (assuming we're talking RNY here), which
means less intestine is removed and the malabsorption isn't as great as it
is with distal. With a BMI of 41, proximal RNY is a good choice. :) Good
luck!

Yup, short limb is proximal. I also think it is a good choice because you
have a lower BMI. I had a higher BMI of 51 and I had proximal, and I have
lost 110 pounds, so it works! :o)
