Question:
Has anyone tried the Detour Bars?

I had heard that the Detour protein bar (new and put out by Designer Whey) was the best bar out there, so I went to my local Vitamin Shoppe and tried one right in front of the clerk. It was absolutely awesome!! Definitely the closest to a candy bar yet and so I bought an entire box. 12 to a box, $25.00 for the box. Designer Whey does not have it online yet-anyone else tried it and found it on-line? Here are the stats: 2.8 0z bar (its big) 290 calories 9 grams of fat 22 carbs 6 sugars 32 PROTEIN Only 1 flavor, caramel peanut-its chocolate covered and wonderful!! and no, I do not sell or market them, just wanted to pass on a good taste since I seemed to have tried them all. Those protien bars are so good but they are FULL of carbs that you do not need.

I agree, they are the best! I think we only have to count the 6g sugar carbs. The new rules show many more carbs now than they did last year. Something has to be reported as a carb but does not affect us the same way. That is what I was told anyway. I bought a box myself. I had one last night as a treat. I taste just like a snickers with protein. Marsha

Kary, I am the original poster. I don't think 22 grams of carb is high and besides I can't eat more than 1/2 the bar! Well worth the few carbs.

After seeing this post I went out and tried one. It's soooo yummy, and didn't make me dump, but the carb count is too high for me. It kicked off my carb cravings. Bummer. I'd still eat them for a treat though, but save them for late in the day.

Ok so where do you buy them? I think I have tried about every protein bar out there and honestly I thought I would gag! LOL! But I like the concept of having a treat that is better for you than a candy bar! So, where do you buy them and I will try yet another protein bar! LOL!

I got mine at GNC, but they were pricey... 2.99/bar. You can get a 10% discount by the box, and for you gold card people, and additional 20% Gold Card discount, and that brings it to just under 26.00/box. I also saw them on-line for about $25.00/box, but then you have to pay shipping. Looks like the original poster got them cheapest at the Vitamin Shoppe for 25.00/box, but unfortunantly, there aren't any of those around here. They really are good. Only the slightest hint of any 'protein bar' essence, but the carmel, chocolate, and peanut part more than make up for it LOL.

I've tried the Detour Bars~~yes, they do have a good taste. One could become addicted, but the carbs *scare* me, starts my motor running for more, then you know what happens....

The bar was AWESOME!!! I have never had protein bar taste so good. And it completely satisfied my sweet tooth!!!
