Question:
Will I have tubes coming out of my stomach with a VBG? And for how long?

Brooke,
My mom had 2 drain tubes coming out of her abdomen after her open VBG.
They were very small and thin, and attached to something called a hemovac.
I believe it collects the fluid from the tubes. She said they didn't hurt
at all, and were removed 2 days after surgery. The drains were keeping
excess fluid out of the abdominal cavity. With my open RNY I also had the
same kind of tube, only one though, and another larger tube that drained
the large portion of the stomach, which I went home with and stayed in for
twelve days. I think it all depends on your surgeon's preferences. Hugs,

Hi! I didn't have any tubes in my stomach after my Open VBG(9/10/02). Had
the NG tube and that was it for anything like that.
