Question:
Calculations for Custom Food
I'm new to Fitday.com and tried to create my first daily menu. When I went to custom food and tried to enter the calories/fat/info from the label for 1/2 a serving, such as 1/2 a protein bar, I get a message back saying the # of calories in the food does not match with the amount of fat, carbs and protein, yet all I did was 1/2 all the #'s on the label. How do you get Fitday to accept it? — Cindy R. (posted on August 15, 2002)

Was this one of the low carb bars? You have to add back in the carbs to
make the numbers add up because they count them in the calories but not in
the carb numbers. In my opinion, if your body consumes them as calories
they ought to be required to report them as carbs.

Try the food diary on calorieking.com. It's MUCH superior and is also
free.

Usually what I do is enter 1 full serving of something and its calories,
carbs, protein, etc. to the custom food entry. Then if I eat 1/2 a serving
of something, I enter the serving as 0.5 and it works out fine. Same as if
I eat 1/3 cup of something, I enter .33; 1/4 cup of something, I enter .25,
etc.
