Question:
When does your appetite return?
I am between 5 and 6 months post-op and pleased that my pre-op ravenous appetite has not returned. I get mildly hungry at this stage and can eat or not eat without feeling out of control. I've heard that the pre-op appetite returns eventually and was just wondering when it returned full force for those who are post-op. Thanks. — Cindy R. (posted on July 9, 2002)

I am 7 months post op , lap RNY , down 82 pounds, 35 to goal. My appetite
just returned in the past month or so. I didn't like anything and lived on
Wendy's chili for 2+ months. I was getting so depressed about not liking
anything. I wrote in a question here about it and got many responses.
Apparently it is a normal thing for a lot of us. I was told to enjoy this
"phase" cause that is when most of the weight will be lost. You
SHOULD be getting your appetite back any time now. Mine kinda came back and
I didn't even realize it. Hang in there!

Cindy, I am now 7 months post op, and I've just gotten it back this last
month.. and what I thought was "full force" OMG, was so not... I
wrote down everything I was eatting while I felt I was eatting myself out
of house and home, and realized I still eat less all day than I used to in
a meal to a meal and a half. -knock on wood- Good luck on your journey!
